SEO: Linking to the Link Directory - by Liz Jackson

Once a link partner determines that the home page of a site has good content and design, their next step is to navigate to the links page or resources page. This is where their link will potentially be located on the site, so they will want to ensure that the link directory, as well as the page their link is on, is easily accessible to visitors to the site. They will also want to see that the directory can be linked to from the home page. If the home page does not link directly to the links page, the link directory may have lower page rank since page rank weight declines the deeper you navigate into a site. If the link to the link directory can’t be easily found on the home page, link partners will often skip over the site altogether. Some sites do not even link directly to their resources or links page from their home page. These sites have the directory accessible only from their site map, or from secondary pages. When link partners see this, they will often not to want to trade links.
