Logo Proportions - Jonathan Munk
Although a designer’s eye will normally catch disproportion, a layman entrepreneur might request proportions in a logo that just don’t make sense. Logos that are too long or too tall might look good in some applications, but they usually become a problem when the logos‘ sizes are changed.
When a company purchases a billboard space, for example, the logo might be difficult to read if it doesn’t have a good proportion. The same is true for a logo shrunk down to fit on a business card.
A good general rule for good proportions is that a logo should not be too much wider than it is tall in most cases. Remember that, and use your designer to gauge proportion, and it should not be an issue for your companies’ logo.
