Link pages and directories by Adam Sorensen
I must confess I created this category so I could have a place to vent a little bit. And who knows, maybe someone will read a few of my tips and improve their rankings in the major search engines.
What I wanted to address today is backlink pages, directories or reciprocal link pages. Let me just say flat out that I would trade links with way more sites if they would just categorize their link pages. Why would I want my link on a page with no specific theme along side a hundred other websites that are totally unrelated? In my opinion, the days of having tons of unrelated backlinks are over. Now it is very important to have your link placed on pages that have industry related content. I’ve seen sites with relatively few backlinks get excellent ranking in search engines following this strategy.
When I create directories I try to accomodate a number of different categories that are optimized for specific keywords for that category. Building your link directory this way will make it a lot more attractive to link parnters. I turn away links every day that I would other wise trade with if they just had categorized link pages.
Another thing that is good about categorized link pages is that it makes it easier for your link partners to find their link. Having a search box to find your link and the category that it is in is also really helpful. I spend hours each week just trying to find where link partners have placed my link.
Building your link directory with a few of these ideas in mind will get you a lot more quality link partners, and when you have a lot more quality link partners search engine algorythms will reward your site by moving you up in the search engine rankings.
