Company Logo Design

Word Clutter in Logos

A simple logo is almost always better than a complex one. Simplicity means keeping a logo free from unnecessary, wordy clutter. Many business owners feel it necessary to put LLC, Inc, or Co. after the name of the company in their logo. But too many letters make the logo look cluttery. Consumers don’t really care if the name of the company is Nike or Nike, Inc, and most consumers won’t make their purchasing decisions based on whether a company is a corporation, or a limited liability company. The extra letters only confuse the eye and take away from the name of the company.

Also unneeded are license numbers, phone numbers, and long taglines. When there are too many letters, the logo becomes a mess. Look at the example below to see why you need to avoid using too many letters in your logo:logo

The logo would look much better with just the words Green Key. Less is more, and that is never more true than with a logo.
