Website design - The interactive interface

Website design is unique from traditional design for a lot of different reasons. It is not a static page that is looked at like a magazine page. It is an interactive interface where design and usability come together. The way the design works can either make the user experience enjoyable or a hassle.

When designing an interactive interface there are a few things to consider. Your design should not only create a specific impression on the user, it should also lead to some action. Remember to keep the navigation simple, clean and easy to navigate. Make it clear where the user is going when they click on a link.

I would recommend keeping the design area either fixed width, preferably 750 pixels or so, or, if you have a lot of tabled information, make your design stretch to 70-80% of the browser window. This will make all copy easier to read. One thing I don’t like is trying to read a line of copy that goes all the way across my browser window.

Yes, there is so much more to talk about when it comes to your interactive web page design, but to keep things short this will suffice for now.
