Business Logo of the Week: Green Bay Gamblers

August 8th, 2008

The Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL are looking to revitalize after the worst season in team history. The newly designed logo is a throwback of sorts; the new logo resembles the old look of the Green Bay Bobcats, who played in the United States Hockey League from 1961 – 1981. The advertising agency who created the logo, Arketype, said they wanted to combine history with a little bit of the future.

The Gamblers had the worst record in the league and attendance also dropped by more than 20 percent. The head coach and general manager were replaced because of the team’s performance. Newly hired coach and general manager, Jon Cooper, is excited about the team and the look of the logo. “When I first saw the logo, I loved it. It’s got this kind of attitude about it,” Cooper said.

I like the new logo and I hope that the new logo brings the Gamblers good fortune in the coming season.

Business Logo of the Week: Cornwall Council

July 28th, 2008

A logo fit “Only in America” appears in England. The city of Cornwall, England has a new logo. The new logo replaces a logo that featured a a miner, a fisherman and a clough. The new logo was
chosen from 30 logo compositions. The logo design process took six weeks to complete and the city council feels like they have a great logo.

Many people feel like the new logo reminds them of Don King, a famous boxer promoter. The new logo has a very contemporary and modern feel as opposed to its predecessor. “The positive, dynamic lines of the design represent growth and movement.”

Rules for Starting a Business

July 21st, 2008

This post doesn’t have much to do with business logos or design, but it is about business. I just came upon a blog talking about 6 Rules of Starting a Business. Check it out when you have some time.

Everyone at some point has wanted to start a business on their own. They often ask, “what type of business should I start?” Starting your own business is very risky. Ask your self the questions and then maybe you’ll have a better idea of whether or not you’re ready to start that business that you’ve been thinking about.
